Your First Session
A typical first session with me involves rapport building and getting familiar with what brought you to therapy. This includes identifying supports and goals of therapy to help establish a foundation to build upon. I also want to hear about your hobbies, interests, or things that motivate you. Your autonomy is very important to me, so we will move at a pace that is comfortable to you and aligns with what you want most out of your therapeutic experience.
Why I Became a Therapist
My path to becoming a therapist began with my own experience in therapy. I discovered just how healing it can be to have an empathic and compassionate person to help navigate challenges that life throws your way. I developed a deep appreciation for exploring unique experiences of individuals in a way that is non-judgmental and creates a lasting impact.
Deep Dive: My Specialties
Grief: I use emotional processing skills and techniques to help clients experience emotions without judgement and honoring their unique experiences of loss. I believe grief is best processed in a warm, supportive environment while finding hope and meaning. Trauma: I support clients through their journey to heal from traumatic events that have impacted their functioning in everyday life. Through the healing within the therapeutic alliance, I strive to help clients increase their sense of safety and wellbeing. Anxiety: I use a variety of coping skills to help my clients work toward goals of reducing anxiety through identifying triggers and processing avoidance. I use empowerment strategies to help build resilience and confidence for lasting change.
When I'm Not in the Office
Outside of the office, I enjoy listening to music, cooking, reading books, spending time with my family (including my dog), and going for nature walks.
