Your First Session
The first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust and safety. During this appointment, we will talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and any important background information that may help me better understand your experiences and needs. I will also answer questions about my approach, confidentiality, and what therapy may look like moving forward. Most importantly, my goal for the first session is to not rush or pressure you, but to create a comfortable space where you feel heard, supported, and feel comfortable beginning at your own pace.
Why I Became a Therapist
I chose to become a therapist because I have always been drawn to understanding people’s stories and walking alongside them during meaningful and difficult sessions of life. I believe that healing happens through connection, compassion, and being truly heard. Being a therapist allows me to support others, as they build insight, resilience, and hope in their lives.
Deep Dive: My Specialties
EMDR : I’m especially drawn to EMDR therapy because it helps clients access healing in a way that goes beyond simply talking about what happened. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns they understand intellectually, but still can’t seem to change. EMDR allows us to work with the way painful experiences are stored in the brain and body, helping clients process access trauma, reduce emotional intensity, and create space for new beliefs about themselves. I appreciate EMDR because it honors the clients own capacity for healing while providing a structured, evidence-informed path toward relief, resilience, and lasting change. Traditional talk therapy- I like traditional talk therapy because it gives clients a safe supportive space to slow down, reflect, and truly feel heard. In a world where people are often expected to keep moving and ‘push through,’ talk therapy allows clients to pause and explore, what they are feeling, why certain patterns keep showing up, and what they may need to heal and grow. I appreciate the way conversation can lead to insight, self-awareness, emotional clarity, and meaningful change over me. Traditional talk therapy helps clients feel less alone while building tools to navigate luge such more confidence, intention, and self confidence. CBT- I value CBT beside it gives clients practical tools to understand and shift the thoughts and behaviors that may be keeping them stuck. VBT supports blend in building I sight, developing healthier coping skills and creating meaningful change in their everyday lives.
When I'm Not in the Office
When I am not in the office, I enjoy reading, spending my time with friends and family, watching my son play baseball, and cheering on Aggie sports—especially football and baseball!
