Experience

In her practice, Diana focuses on creating a non-judgmental, safe space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. She emphasizes the importance of a strong “fit” between client and clinician, noting that she understands the therapy process from the perspective of someone who has attended therapy herself. Her approach is client-centered, meaning she prioritizes the client’s goals and curiosity over directing the therapeutic process.

Outside of her professional work, Diana enjoys spending time with her dog, drinking iced coffee, and playing cozy video games. She works under the supervision of Tiffany Priska, MA.

Your First Session

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. I'll start by introducing myself and reviewing the Informed Consent paperwork that you completed before coming in. If you're new to therapy, I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the process and what you can expect. We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy and explore what you'd like to be different in your life. I'll probably ask some questions about when the issue started, how it's affecting you, and what you've already tried. This helps me get a better understanding of your experience and what might be most helpful. I believe you're the expert on your own life, so my role isn't to tell you what to do. Instead, we'll work together to understand what's going on and figure out what changes feel realistic and meaningful for you. My goal is to meet you where you're at and help identify small, manageable steps toward where you'd like to be.

Why I Became a Therapist

The interest towards Psychology and human behavior is what drew me to the field. However, the thing that motivates me to show up and be a better counselor is the feeling I get when people benefit from therapy. It is a privilege to witness people during some of the toughest parts of their lives and see them feel better, or feel more comfortable, or more accepting, or more intentional. I truly cannot see myself doing anything else.

Deep Dive: My Specialties

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify thought patterns and behaviors that may no longer be serving you well. Often, these beliefs and coping strategies developed for understandable reasons and may have been helpful at one point in life. Over time, however, they can contribute to distress or make it more difficult to navigate challenges. Together, we can explore these patterns and develop alternative ways of thinking and responding that feel both realistic and self-compassionate. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build resilience and navigate difficult emotions more effectively. When we experience stress, our nervous system naturally shifts into a fight-or-flight response, which can make it challenging to respond in ways that align with our values and goals. By learning skills to manage emotional distress, clients can break cycles of chronic worry, stress, and anxiety and feel more empowered to move toward the life they want. In addition, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasizes living in alignment with what matters most to you. Our values are shaped by our unique experiences, culture, relationships, and personal beliefs. By identifying and connecting with these core values, we can work together to align your thoughts, choices, and actions with the person you want to be.

When I'm Not in the Office

My hobbies include watching TV, listening to music, talking to friends, working out, cozy video games, listening to scary stories, or scrolling the internet. I'd consider myself pretty laid-back and definitely a homebody, but I'm not opposed to going out and exploring every once in a while. Depending on the day, I'll "recharge" a few different ways. Sometimes that looks like hitting the gym and getting a good workout in. Some days, it may look like going home and watching a comfort show while my little dog naps next to me. I would like to journal more often, as I've kept a diary/journal on-and-off since I was about 11 or 12 years old and it's so interesting to go back and read about myself and reflect.
