Your First Session
My therapy is client-driven, meaning you are taking me on the journey most comfortable for you. My goal is more collaborative than directive, and to create an alliance of trust and hope.
Why I Became a Therapist
Life is what happens when we make other plans. We are meant for more than just existing. There is meaning and purpose that can help us thrive as we find our way through the messy.
Deep Dive: My Specialties
I most often use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify their strengths, resources, and past successes to create meaningful change rather than focusing primarily on problems or diagnoses. This approach is collaborative, practical, and goal-oriented, empowering clients to recognize what is already working and build on it to achieve their desired future. Another favorite approach utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles to help clients develop practical skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, tolerate distress, and increase mindfulness in daily life. DBT balances acceptance and change, teaching clients how to validate their experiences while building healthier coping strategies and behavioral patterns. I also enjoy incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients recognize and reshape thought patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress or unhelpful behaviors. This evidence-based approach aligns well with the spiritual practice of capturing thoughts, challenging those that are not serving us well, and intentionally choosing healthier, more productive ways forward.
When I'm Not in the Office
I am either in-season or out-season, never off-season. There is a purpose behind everything I do or don't do. I love hiking, biking, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and challenging my mind and body in finding the good.
